10 Years of Bedrock

To celebrate 10 years of being in business, we built a super limited edition batch (273 pairs) of Classic and Cairn Sandals in our favorite old school Bedrock colorway - Yellow! We proudly stitched all these pairs in our Missoula, MT shop. Also new are stickers and t-shirts. This new line will be available Tuesday, August 31st at 10AM Mountain time.

When we started Bedrock back in 2011, our goal was to make sandals that let our feet feel more free. Since those early days the Bedrock product line has grown from kickstarter beginnings to our now industry award winning sandal designs.

Over the past 10 years we've also setup shop in plenty of different spaces and places. Bedrock has been located in 9 different HQ's including garages, childhood bedrooms, backyard sheds, 2 story forts, maker space warehouses, and office buildings. Over that time we've been in Arcata, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, Oakland, Richmond, and now Missoula.

Back in 2011, Nick and I built those first 212 kickstarter pairs in a cabin along the Northern CA coast. In those days the only tools required to build Bedrocks were a trusty box cutter and a heat gun for melting webbing. Although rustic, the right ideas were there and over the next several years we constantly iterated on our classic sandals to make them better and hone in our sandal craft. We bought our first sewing machine in 2012, "Miss Molly", which is still in operation to help make our stretchy classic sandal heel straps.

In 2016 we launched our Cairn Sandal.  After several dedicated years of development and innovation, the Cairn represented our best ideas and transcended the sandal wearing experience for us and our growing list of customers. Over the past several years we've continued to perfect our footwear and launched our Pro II model in 2020 among other products. We also have dramatically expanded our production to meet growing demand.

Over the next 10 years we have some big plans. Grow slow, keep making the best sandals in the biz even better, lessen our negative footprint on our planet, and support people and organizations aimed to make our environment a better and more equitable place through our donations.

After Covid related development delays this year, we will finally launch some brand new Bedrock footwear next Spring that will make the cold weather transition a more joyous experience for our customers.

Happy 10 years of Bedrock!

Congrats to the whole Bedrock crew on 10 successful years! I’ve rocked the Bedrocks for thousands of miles on the CDT and loved every minute, there’s just no comparison. I’m glad so many are also recognizing the quality! Made by adventurers, for adventures. Keep on (bed)rock’n!

Ordered my first pair in 2016 after doing a google search of “minimalist sandals.” I tried hard to love chacos, my family’s religion. But just couldn’t. Branched out on my own to find an alternative that moved more with my feet. Now I am a Bedrocks lifer. And have converted many in my family. Thank you for making the best adventure sandals!

Congrats on your 10 year anniversary from Germany!

(And, if I may, a reminder… You might have noticed that there was this thing called Brexit, so you UK dealer is no longer in the EU, making it pretty expensive & cumbersome to buy your sandals for us Europeans… Maybe you could consider finding a partner in the European Union?)
